Knight Errant Sword

I stumbled upon this great concept from Carlos Ruiz and wanted to give it a try.

I modeled it in Blender, made a mirror UV and then exported it to 3DCoat. And then I just painted it.

No complex workflow or technique here, just a lot of fun painting. I used a small trick for the mossy part, creating a shape with a little drop shadow in the layer function in Photoshop. It increases the overall volume effect and for me it looks really nice in the end.
